Air Quality Control

Air Quality Control

When you think of air conditioning, you probably think of temperature control first. Fair enough. We’re in Florida. We need our homes to be cool sanctuaries when the weather gets hot.

But air conditioning units also play a massive part in the quality of our indoor air. The amount of dust, germs and other contaminants we breathe when we’re inside is directly related to the work our AC unit is doing—or failing to do.

Think about it. What’s the first thing you do when you turn on your AC? I’m assuming you go through your home and close all the windows and doors. You’ve probably even taken special measures to make sure your house is sealed up tight: weatherstripping, caulking, thresholds, etc.

You do this because you don’t want to let the cold air out. But what kind of air are you keeping in?

For better or for worse, your AC unit fills your home with the air it processes. It circulates the existing air in your home, and it also pulls in air from the outside. That means your AC unit has an opportunity to remove things from the air before it distributes it into your home.

On the downside, your AC unit might not be removing as much as it should. Even worse, contaminated systems and dirty ductwork might also be putting things into the air that can wind up in your lungs.

When it comes to removing things, first and foremost, your unit needs a clean, fresh, high-quality filter. When it’s in good shape, a filter will grab particles out of the air and hold onto them so they can’t get into your home.

When it’s in bad shape, an old, dirty filter hinders airflow. It makes your unit work harder while being less efficient.

UV lamps are also excellent tools for removing things like viruses and bacteria. These living creatures are often too small to get trapped in a filter, but we know how scary airborne germs can be. A UV lamp eliminates or neutralizes these critters so they can’t do any damage.

But the work of a good filter and UV sanitation can be undone by a dirty, poorly maintained AC system. If your ductwork is dirty, the airflow is just going to carry all of that dirty into your home. If your filter is old, not only is it inefficient, but it might even start releasing the previously trapped debris that’s built up over the months. And if your unit itself has been compromised or just hasn’t been cleaned enough, it might be churning your air through mold and algae.

You want to fill your home with the cleanest possible air. That’s what we’re here for. We can check, fix, and clean every square inch of your AC system to make sure it’s doing what it’s supposed to be doing—and not adding anything extra.
